Michael Ketigian — Ode to Bladder

Thank you, blessed Bladder,
for lifting me from my desk
so that I may take a breath
and be reminded of release.

As you expel your accumulated waste
and greet me with relief,
you beckon blessed Brain to do the same,
to cease the haste and let the nonsense drain,
imparting unrestricted flow.

So I pray to you as a matter of gratitude,
blessed Bladder,
for uplifting my attitude,
and out of hope that I will always see
the value you provide.

Forgive me, please,
for incessant attempts to neglect you,
and thank you once again
for this flowing of the tide.
