Singer /Songwriter Chris Mapstone (Canada) has been playing the guitar and writing lyrics for 11 years. As a world traveller Mapstone’s songs have been influenced by rich cultural and musical experiences, and his musical repertoire consists of playing the guitar, didgeridoo, percussion, harmonica, wooden flutes and singing. His lyrics reflect his passion and understanding for equality, freedom of speech, self reflection, relationships, and the environment.
In 2007 Mapstone attended the Byron Bay Blues and Roots Festival in Australia where he was impressed by the creativity, lifestyle, and beauty he found there. After another year of travelling as a solo artist Mapstone decided it was time to put down his roots and form a band. Byron Bay was his destination.
In April of 2008 Chris packed up his guitars and caught a plane down under in search of musical collaboration. He formed the band ‘Root System’ and then shortly after returned to Canada to tour and record with Root System. After recording their first album ‘Of The Earth’ with Todd Simko (Xavier Rudd, Current Swell) Root System toured and gained a fan base on the west coast of Canada and Ontario.
