Richard Kroon — Dionyceties

May 16, 2016 by Stageless Arts in Poetry, Richard Kroon, Sri Lanka

I am drunk
Sun drunk
Love drunk
So drunk!
on the sweet tang of papaya and lime
Drunk on the rich salt of the sea
And this bubble of island time
By the serotonin soup of the Suns rays, drunk
By the caress of the night breeze
Drunk on the daring skill of the surfers
And on the crash of waves on the beach
By the gleam of bare skin in the sun, yes, drunk
By dark tresses and by golden locks
Drunk on peals of laughter from friends
And on the words that spill from their minds
By plans and schemes and ideas, I am drunk
By the promise of a future bright
Drunk on being drunk and on being
And drunk, and on philosophy too
By wisdom and folly and fate I am drunk
By the orb of the full moon
Drunk on reason and madness, fitness and faith
Humanity, reality, and the muse
By the gods
By great men
By my word
By my troth
By the heavens and even the hells
By inspiration divine
By everything fine
But mostly by wine, I am drunk
