Kasun Ravihara Jayakody — Coffee and a Muffin

Coffee and a Muffin

I opened my eyes
Nine months straight wasn’t too easy for me
So I shouted out loud saying I’m free !
And I started draning her all juices in to me
Blood to milk – milk to blood
In the moment I saw her I knew what comfort me
Like a coffee and a muffin

I called upon god
Every morning till night
Point and hold hands that’s all I did
I opened my eyes again and again
Such a beautiful world I’m glad I live this long
Enjoyed every penny from their pockets
Like a coffee and a muffin

Life wasn’t too easy
Still I open my eyes again and again
Early morning to busy nights
Filled some papers god knows why
Marked red , proud faces
Gave a purpose with a little taste
Like a coffee and a muffin

I barely open my eyes again and again
I can’t say why its just happens
Switch Off the alarm clock with one eye open
Filled cupboards ,filled hearts, empty thoughts
Trying to show the enjoyment for no reason
Wore the Same uniform for the whole week
Like I enjoy the coffee and a muffin

Its been a while now since nothing happened
I looked at the sky in every dawn
I open my eyes again and again in the dark
It could be my fault or fate, it doesn’t matter
I enjoyed every sip from my whiskey
And every puff from my cigarette
Like a coffee and a muffin
